If you watch the romantic comedy She's All That (1999) starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and likes Rachael Leigh Cook, we may have good news for you. Or maybe not. Netflix comes with a reboot in which the roles are reversed: He's All That. She's All That was a modern adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, and also a remake of the musical My Fair Lady, but without the songs. The film turned out to be a huge hit and found its place among all the successful romcoms that came out at the time.
Prinze Jr. played a popular boy who decides to make a wallflower (Cook) also handsome and popular by, for example, doing something about her clothing choices and taking off her nerdy glasses. In this gender-swapping version, "Tiktok sensation" Addison Rae plays an influencer who takes on the challenge of making the school's biggest loser (Tanner Buchanan) the king of the prom.
Rachael Leigh Cook returns for a role on the reboot but in a different role. Matthew Lillard, who was also featured in the original, is also making an appearance in the new version. The rest of the cast includes Madison Pettis, Peyton Meyer, Isabella Crovetti, Annie Jacob, and Myra Molloy. R. Lee Fleming Jr., who wrote the original, also scripted the reboot. The film, which will be directed by Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Freaky Friday, will hit Netflix later this year.
