To bring employment in small and medium enterprises on a single platform, the Modi government has launched the Job Portal Contact. Through this, trainees or students are recruited from MSME Technology Centers across India. Currently, the portal has over 4.73 lakh job seekers and over 6,200 recruiters. This information was provided at a workshop organized by DPIIT earlier this week. The meeting was chaired by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.
According to the portal at the time of writing, the number of vacancies available for recruitment is only 54 and the number of vacancies is 10. The number of job seekers registered on the portal is 4.73. 729 and the number of recruiters is 6234. President Ram Nath Kovind launched the MSME Contact Portal on June 27, 2018.
Just a 1.65% increase in the number of job applicants
As of September 7, 2020, the number of job seekers was 4.66 lakh, an increase of just 1.65 percent. The number of recruiters grew by 8.92 percent during the same period. As of September 7, 2020, the number of recruiters was 5,723. On the other hand, the number of candidates (candidates who got jobs) in September last year was 10,388, now it has increased by 2.87 times to 29,899. There were 74 vacancies while there were 1,051 vacancies last year.
What does NSS data say?
The MSMEs sector created 11.10 million jobs in 2015-16, according to the National Sample Survey (NSS) data, according to the annual report of the Ministry of MSMEs from last year. Under this, Rs 3.6 crore was created in jobs, Rs. 3.87 crore in trade, Rs. 3.62 crore in other services and Rs. 0.07 crore is in non-captive power generation and transmission. According to a survey titled What Worries the World released by market research firm Ipsos earlier this week, unemployment and the coronavirus epidemic have become the biggest concern for urban Indians.
What do CMIE statistics say?
According to the latest data from the Center for Monitoring the Indian Economy (CMIE), 85 lakh jobs were created in September, while salaries rose from 771 lakh in August to 841 lakh in September. On the other hand, the unemployment rate fell to 8.9 percent in September from 8.3 percent in August. The labor participation rate increased from 40.5 percent to 40.7 percent, while the employment rate increased from 37.2 percent to 37.9 percent.
