The Hindi film industry has suffered a lot due to the Corona epidemic. Due to the lockdown, theaters remained closed for months and the release of films was stuck. In this odd situation, the box office release of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's film 'Bell Bottom' has looked like a ray of hope. The Ranjit M Tiwari directorial 'Bell Bottom' is the first Hindi film to be released in theaters after the end of the second lockdown, which has broken the hesitation of the film industry. Has given courage to those filmmakers who were afraid to release their films in theatres. Because on the one hand cinema halls in Maharashtra are still closed, on the other hand, theaters in other places have been allowed to open only on the condition of not filling more than 50 percent of seats.
Before the release of the film 'Bell Bottom' in the theatres, actor Akshay Kumar himself said that he knows that releasing a film in theaters at the moment is the biggest risk, a challenge, but if you have not taken the risk in life So what have you done? That's why we decided that we will release our film in theaters by taking a risk. It's a gamble and someone had to gamble it. It was indeed gambling, in which the filmmakers may have suffered financially, but it has got far-reaching consequences. The release of this film has certainly succeeded in instilling a sense of confidence in the filmmakers and the audience, who were still scared for one reason or the other. Because of this, the cinema business has started once again.
How much is the movie Bell Bottom earning so far?
As far as the earnings of the film Bell Bottom are concerned, the film has so far made a total box office collection of 27 crores. The film opened on the first day on Thursday with a box office collection of Rs 2.75 crore. After this, it earned Rs 2.60 crore and Rs 3 crore on Friday and Saturday respectively, but Raksha Bandhan boomed and the film collected Rs 4.40 crore on Sunday. In this way, the total weekend collection of the film became Rs 12.75 crore. The film's worldwide box office collection is said to be Rs 26.66 crore. This amount is very less for any film of Akshay Kumar. His films earn so much money in the first two days of release. In such a situation, Akshay Kumar's film Bell Bottom has not been able to recover even its cost depending on the box office.
What are your expectations from Akshay Kumar's films?
According to film business expert Girish Johar, in a normal scenario, Bell Bottom could have easily done a business of Rs 20 crore on the very first day at the box office. Despite the less than expected collection, he believes that Bell Bottom has done a 'descent collection'. He said, 'People will be looking at the earnings of this film from the box office point of view, so they may find this low figure, which it is also.
But if seen from the perspective of the film industry, then this film has done the work of restarting the stalled business. Due to this, theaters opened once again, marketing of the film started and many activities like releasing the film abroad have started. Film trade expert Komal Nahta had predicted a collection of Rs 7 crore on the first day of the film in the current situation.
How did Maharashtra's closed cinema halls affect it?
In Maharashtra, permission has not yet been given to open cinema halls. About 30 percent of the Hindi film business comes from Maharashtra alone. In such a situation, the film released at this time is already losing a large part of its business. This is the reason why many big films like 'Sooryavanshi', '83, 'Bunty Aur Babli 2' and 'Brahmastra' are not being released yet, despite being ready. As soon as theaters are allowed to open in Maharashtra, the release line of films will start.
However, Akshay Kumar released his film despite all these obstacles, which the film industry is seeing as a good sign. Because after its release, Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Chehre' was released. Apart from this, two Hollywood films Marvel Studio's superhero film 'Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' and Hollywood actor Vin Diesel's film 'Fast and Furious 9' were also released. All three films have made a total box office collection of 21 crores on the weekend.
