9to5 As Google discovered, the Google TV app for Android has just received an update that includes a remote control feature that appears to replace the current Android TV remote control app.
For many years, many users have been using the Android TV remote control application to control devices such as televisions or TV boxes, which have not been updated since April 2017.
Recently, the Google TV application for Android terminals received an update to version 4.25 and within it were found references to a system that would pair our terminal with a compatible device.
Tests conducted have enabled the pairing process on the smartphone, but the application did not find any device to connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, indicating that this is the new version of the application. Not fully functional yet.
As far as we know, the Google TV app connects to other devices with the Google TV operating system via Bluetooth or Wifi just like the original Android TV app. But this new remote control will be easier to use because we no longer need a second application to control our television or TV box.
As we can see, this new software for televisions is a bet for the future for Mountain View Company, which plans to bring it to more devices. It will be launched in the next few years with a new Chromecast with Google TV.
